Opening up Damansara Uptown to the rest of KL

Hipsterness has taken full flight in KL, and no area better showcases this than the neighbourhood of Damansara Uptown. A mishmash of artisan coffee hangouts, brunch cafes and (not-so) secret bars, this is an area that has gone from a sleepy residential area to a thriving hotspot.

Yet, the cosiness and neighbourly feel of this area, which was one of the original reasons why people came here in the first place, seemed to be holding it back. Limited space meant that getting a parking spot was close to impossible; the narrows roads and cars which were parked indiscriminately meant that traffic often slowed to a crawl. As the nearest LRT station was over 5KM away from, public transportation wasn’t a viable option for people looking to travel to Uptown. The lack of transportation options in the area was preventing the area from reaching its fullest potential.

In January 2015, Uber launched Damansara Uptown as part of a new Core Service Area. This was part of a commitment to expand the transportation options in an area that was previously underserved and lacking in reliable transportation infrastructure.

The number of trips that ended in Damansara Uptown
has grown by more than 880%!

This is an area known for its independently-owned and locally run businesses – and Uber is proud to be able to support this growing local economy by offering a safe, reliable and efficient way of moving in and around, as well as to this neighbourhood.
