Shop and Dine Toward Free Rides with Local Offers
Every day, millions of riders use Uber to explore what their cities have to offer. We’ve seen Uber become an integral way for residents and visitors to connect with the restaurants, shops, and local businesses that make each city special.
This got us thinking: what if we could help riders get even more out of their experience shopping and dining at the places they love, and the local favorites they’ve yet to try? What if that next kale salad (or late night burrito) could get you a ride home?
Today, we’re introducing Local Offers, a way for riders to get free rides by spending at nearby businesses with the Visa credit card on their Uber account. It’s pretty simple. Once you enroll in the spots that interest you, you’ll get 1 Uber point for every $1 you spend there. And 100 points earns you a free ride up to $10.
We’ve built Local Offers right into the Uber app, making it a one stop shop for riders to see our curated list of places and track progress toward free rides. There are no codes or coupons to manage — as soon as your Visa credit card is swiped at the merchant, you’ll see the points tally up in the app. So next time you go out for dinner with friends, you might just want to pick up the tab.
Local Offers is rolling out first in phases to riders in San Francisco and Los Angeles. You’ll need the latest version of the Uber app and a Visa credit card. Check out some of the offers available today and for more inspiration, watch how Kaley Cuoco racks up points toward a free ride.

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
