Get your Give On!

Tonight will be a night of cocktails, d’ouvres, dinner, live Haitian music and most importantly, a night of giving. That’s right. It’s Samasource’s Annual GiveWork Gala. Michael Arrington, Ron Conway and 250 CEOs, VCs and entrepeneurs will come together to raise money for a truly amazing cause.

SamaWhat???

Samasource connects women, youth and refugees living in poverty-stricken areas with internet-based work. At Uber, we’re excited to be attending and absolutely honored to have the opportunity to provide the evening’s transportation, as well as auction off rides to some pretty phenomenal events like lunch with Mr. Ron Conway.

We look forward to seeing you there!

If you’re not attending and would still like to contribute (a small donation, time, work or supplies), it’s a cause we at Uber really support and encourage all who can help to do so!

In the same spirit, Pencils of Promise is having its first Multi-City Challenge this Saturday in San Francisco, DC, New York, Dallas, LA and Denver. They’re a nonprofit, dedicated to building schools in economically challenged countries like Haiti. They’re looking to “start a revolution with pencils and a backpack.”

Uber will be giving San Francisco attendees discounted rides. You can buy tickets for the event or donate any amount of money (they say it takes just $0.32 to provide on day of sustainable education for a child), your twitter status or volunteer.

Samasource  and Pencils of Promise are a few of Uber’s favorite charities. What’s yours???
