Insurance for UberEATS and UberRUSH delivery partners
In 2013, we launched our ridesharing business, which revolutionized on-demand transportation, and we became the go-to platform for riders to connect with driver-partners for transportation services. Over the last year, we have expanded our on-demand offerings by partnering with restaurants and other businesses to improve same day delivery. Now there are more opportunities for people to partner with Uber and provide delivery for UberEATS and UberRUSH. Since delivery is different than ridesharing it requires its own robust insurance coverage, which is outlined below.
- $1 million of liability coverage per incident. Uber holds a commercial insurance policy with $1 million of coverage per incident. Drivers’ liability to third parties is covered from the moment a driver accepts the request to deliver meals or goods to the time the delivery is complete.
- Contingent comprehensive and collision insurance. If a delivery partner holds personal comprehensive and collision insurance this policy covers physical damage to that vehicle that occurs during a trip up to the actual cash value of the vehicle, for any reason, with a $1,000 deductible.
- $50,000/$100,000/$25,000 of coverage between trips. During the time that a ridesharing partner is available but between deliveries, many personal auto insurance policies will provide coverage. However, if the driver does not have applicable coverage, we maintain a policy that covers the driver’s liability for bodily injury up to $50,000/individual/accident with a total of $100,000/accident and up to $25,000 for property damage.
This insurance coverage applies to those partner drivers that only provide deliveries made by motor vehicle and is applicable in all states except New York. In New York, all motor vehicles are commercially insured in accordance with local requirements.
Couriers on Bicycle and Foot: In addition to deliveries made by motor vehicles, in some cities we also partner with individuals for deliveries on foot or by bicycle. All UberEATS and UberRUSH trips on bicycle and foot are covered by $1 million of general liability insurance. This policy provides coverage for bodily injury or property damage to third parties where the claim arises out of UberEATS and UberRUSH operations.

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
