uberX Now Has a Permanent Home In Virginia

Last updated: March 11, 2016

Congratulations, Virginia! Thanks to your support, uberX now has a permanent home in the Commonwealth.

Yesterday, Governor McAuliffe signed legislation that enables continued access to convenient, reliable rides through the Uber app, while also ensuring the greatest level of public safety.

Since the beginning, all Uber driver-partners in Virginia have been required to:

  • Pass extensive background checks;
  • Undergo vehicle inspections; and
  • Be covered by a primary insurance policy for every trip.

This new legislation affirms these responsibilities and makes sure that uberX remains available as a safe and reliable way for Virginians to travel.

A Special Thank You

Special thanks to Governor Terry McAuliffe, whose efforts in leading the Administration to find a legislative solution made this day possible.

Thank Governor Terry McAuliffe for supporting uberX

We also want to recognize the leadership and support of key officials who stood up for reliable transportation options and economic opportunities for Virginia residents.
