Just as the cold weather comes rolling through the north, it seems appropriate that we continue the #UberEverywhere tour with a stop in Toronto, the first Canadian Uber city!
Toronto launched in true Canadian spirit – on a chilly March 16th, 2012 – and has been heating up ever since. We kicked things off with Ben Mulroney as Rider Zero, requesting the very first UberBLACK car ride. Since then we’ve had highlight after highlight: We launched UberSUV for those nights out with friends, cooled down Torontonians with 2 years of #UBERICECREAM, brought uberTAXI into the mix for those mornings when you’re running late, and we even captured family magic with On-Demand Family Photos this Thanksgiving. It’s been a great ride and we have plenty more in store.
UBERING AROUND TORONTO
With the tap of an app, we requested an uberTAXI cruised by the CN Tower, checked out our favourite spot to catch a game, and took in the view of the city from Cherry Street.
In a city with so much to offer we couldn’t possibly list all of our favourite places, but below you’ll find 5 amazing spots where you can regularly see our team.
Oh sweet, sweet coffee. While there are a million places to grab a shot of caffeine in the city, Jimmy’s Coffee is a standout. They believe in true customer service and community, something we appreciate each day we’re in there for our morning, afternoon, and evening coffee runs. This cozy shop is a breath of fresh air from the King St scene, whether you’re looking to catch some sun out front or a snag a double Americano for a Saturday work grind.
2. Rock Lobster (Queen St)
Sunshine. Patios. Lobster rolls. 3 of our favourite things. Since Rock Lobster opened up it’s new Queen West location right at our doorstep, it’s been impossible to not become regulars. With seating split 50/50 between indoors and a great outdoor patio, you’ll find us soaking up some rays on those warm summer days after work. From steam pots to your traditional fish and chips, there is something for every seafood lover.
Pro tip: Grab the caesar here, you won’t regret it.
Working to grow Uber in the 4th largest city in North America requires more than a few late nights in the office. Nothing feeds a team better than a few pies from NoBro; the finest pizza we’ve ever experienced. Toss in some garlic knots and you’ve covered all of your essential late night dietary needs. Now back to work.
4. Massey Hall
Toronto is spoiled to host some of the best musicians and artists on the planet in this intimate venue. From milestones like Neil Young’s Live at Massey Hall and a 7 month run of Cats, to local heroes The Tragically Hip and The Weeknd, Massey Hall always has something for everyone.
5. Kensington Market (Pedestrian Sundays)
Now in it’s 10th year, Pedestrian Sundays in the market have to be one of the best ways to spend an afternoon. Stretch your legs and immerse yourself in the local community, grab a slice of fantastic pie, some tacos, and stock up on locally sourced meats. From specialty cuisine to live performances around each corner, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in the Market.

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
