Rider with Pride: World Champion & Olympic Medalist Jeffrey Buttle
Pride week has finally arrived in Toronto! We’re crazy excited to announce that Uber Toronto is an official partner of Pride Toronto this year, and we’re kicking off the announcement with a special interview with Jeffrey Buttle, our ‘Rider with Pride’.
Jeffrey is an Olympic medalist, winning the bronze in 2006 while figure skating with the Canadian Winter Olympic team. In 2008 he won gold in the World Championships, solidifying his place as one of the very best in the world of figure skating!
We spoke with Jeffrey about his involvement in the LGBTQ community and what it means to be Uber Toronto’s ‘Rider with Pride’. Check out the interview below:
When did you decide it was time to show public support for the LGBTQ community?
For the past couple of years, I’ve been a member of the Toronto Gay Hockey League. It’s been a truly one of a kind experience and one that has introduced me to an incredibly welcoming community.
To have a sense of belonging is a great great feeling. It’s something that inspired me to be more involved in the community. To give back and do what I can the way that previous generations have done.
What does being Uber Toronto’s ‘Rider with Pride’ mean to you?
Pride is always such an exciting time of the year, I know the village is always in top form! Truth be told, some of the few peaceful moments during the week occur while in transit from one location to the next. Im definitely looking forward to spending those moments in an Uber, as they have shown such resounding support for the LGBTQ community. Thank you to Uber for allowing me to be your ‘Rider with Pride’! I can think of no better way to travel.
Why do you love to get your Uber on?
The most obvious reason I love to get my Uber on is convenience! It is so handy to arrive at your destination and just hop out and be on your way. But what really sets Uber apart is quality of travel. Polite drivers that know your name, and you theirs. Clean and spacious vehicles with lovely magazines and newspapers that distract me from stressing out about what I’ve likely forgotten to pack for my trip.
Much love for you, Jeffrey!

A little over a year ago, we set out to put a new spin on an old classic–make reliable food delivery available at the tap of a button. Back then, we started by offering food in the UberEATS app from 1,000 pioneering restaurant partners in four cities. And today, more than 40,000 restaurants globally–from poke shops to pasta spots–are sharing food with customers through UberEATS. With a growing restaurant community comes more choices and more complexity. So we’re cooking up features to continue to make UberEATS easy and reliable. Here is a taste–
