Requesting your help – Hire Car Authority Card

Uber Sydney continues to be in consultation with the State Government regarding uberX and the future of ridesharing in NSW.

We are encouraging the top uberX partners to apply for a Hire Car Authority Card from Transport for NSW. Although there’s a few steps in the process to obtaining an Authority Card, this is an important step in us working to remove any remaining uncertainty associated with ridesharing services.

Step 1: Form: Complete the form (download it here). You will need to 2 recent, identical, clear colour photos (size: 65x65mm – i.e. not passport size) – any passport photo vendor (e.g. post office, chemist) should be able to take these!

Step 2: Medical Check: Visit a local doctor for a medical check to fill out the medical check form. This cost of this check may vary depending on your local doctor however should not take more than 30 minutes.

Step 3: To Pay: Complete the Credit Card Authority (Visa and Mastercard only) on page 9 of the form or obtain a cheque or money order for $45 payable to “Roads and Maritime Services”.

Step 4: ID Required: Have 100 points of identity endorsed as originals by a Justice of the Peace, police officer or solicitor (only required if you are not personally handing in the application form). A birth certificate OR current passport (primary documents = 70 points) AND your NSW drivers license (secondary document = 30 points) is the simplest way of getting to 100 points. If you are not personally handing in the application form, the back of your photographs will also have to be endorsed.

Step 5: To Complete: You can deliver it personally to Level 4, 16-18 Wentworth St, Parramatta, or mail in the application form to Public Passenger Services, Locked Bag 5085, Parramatta, 2124. Your application should be processed faster if you deliver it in-person (plus you will not need to get your documents endorsed).

We really appreciate your assistance throughout this process – as always, please email us or come into the office if you have any questions.
