An exciting new update for your Uber phone!
An exciting new update is on its way to your Uber phone that will introduce turn-by-turn directions, rider destinations and an updated design! It will be rolled out progressively over the next week, and you will be prompted to install it when you press “Go Online”.
As the app has a different look feel, here are some tips to get the most out of the new experience.
When a new rider request comes in, you can quickly see the rider’s location and estimated drive time, as well as their star rating:
Navigating to the rider’s pick-up location
Once you accept a new request, you are given the pick-up address as you are used to. However, you can now also press “Navigate” in the top left corner to hear spoken directions and be guided turn-by-turn on the best way to reach the pick-up location.
Contacting the rider and cancelling the trip
If you need to call your rider, their phone number is now located in an information panel. Cancelling the trip is also contained within this panel. To access it at any time, press the “…” button in the top right corner, then you are presented with the following:
Pro tip – Destinations
Once you press “Arriving now”, you may see a grey bar saying “Rider destination entered”:
This means that the rider has told us where they would like to be dropped off. The application will show you the rider’s destination once you press Begin Trip, there is no need to ask your rider where they are going if the grey Rider Destination Entered bar appears.
As above, the rider’s pick-up address is replaced with their destination address once you press Begin Trip, and you are shown on the map an overview of the route. As with navigating to pick-up, you can press “Navigate” in the top left corner to be given turn-by-turn directions to the rider’s destination.
