uberX now up to 50% cheaper than a taxi
Sydney desperately needs a transport “Plan B”, and uberX is here to provide you with a safe, reliable and affordable option. When Sydney’s taxis are scarce, or the trains aren’t running, our ride-sharing technology can help you get a ride home with a nearby driver who has passed both driving history and criminal record checks.
Taxi plate owners benefit when your transport options are kept to a minimum – whereas cities that embrace ride-sharing become easier to use and potential drunk drivers begin to choose other options, like rides with Uber, when they are convenient, affordable, and readily available.
And here’s the best bit: with today’s 20% price cut, most UberX rides will be 30-50% cheaper than a taxi!

Taxi fares includes $2.40 Network Booking Fee and 11% CabCharge service fee, and assume 91% of the distance is travelled above 26km/hr, and 57% of trip is billed as waiting time. uberX costs are calculated on the total time and distance, regardless of speed. During times of intense demand fares and booking fees may increase to get more drivers onto the system accepting your requests, but you will always be notified in advance.
