Living in Sydney just got a little better
SYDNEY HAS IT ALL … ALMOST
As the first city in the “lucky country”, Sydneysiders have very little to complain about: boasting spectacular beaches, world-class food, picturesque Harbour views, frequent festivals and classic sporting venues … plus a work-life balance to have time to enjoy it all. Unfortunately, international visitors from New York or London quickly discover that it’s a nightmare to get around town. Trains and buses help get workers to and from the CBD, but sometimes you just need a car. After decades of poor service Australians now accept that 25% of taxi bookings don’t result in a trip, particularly for short trips or on major roads.
UBER JUST MADE SYDNEY A LITTLE BETTER
Our riders know that Ubers always show up when they’re booked, so they relax and enjoy one more drink with their friends as they watch their Uber cruising towards them on the map. For date night, a trip to the beach, or a late-night post-XMAS party rescue – Uber is here to take you home in style.
We are adding more Ubers every day to help you get home safely & easily during this crazy Christmas party season. Ubers are roaming the CBD and Eastern Suburbs today, but a few are creeping up to the North Short already. To make travel planning easier we’ve also introduced a flat rate for Sydney domestic airport trips to or from the CBD of $65 (plus any road tolls or Sydney Airport parking fees).
HELP US SPREAD THE UBER LOVE
Thank you for your patience during our five week testing phase. There are two things you can do to keep making Uber better:
- Keep the feedback coming: We read every piece of trip feedback, every tweet to @Uber_Sydney, and every email to email@example.com. Mike & Oscar are always here to help.
- Spread the word! Uber works better with more cars and more passengers. Hook up 10 friends (and earn $100 Uber credits for yourself) with our “Give 10, Get 10” program.
After five years living among the most ambitious minds in Silicon Valley, I couldn’t be more proud to be bringing some of the best technology back to benefit Sydney. I booked a one-way flight home. Uber Sydney is here to stay.

Today, we are excited to announce that Uber will give $5.5M to support a new robotics faculty chair as well as three fellowships at CMU. This gift is part of a partnership we announced earlier this year. In addition, we’re pumped to be part of a growing innovation ecosystem in Pittsburgh that includes world leading research institutions and companies, as well as an increasing number of start-ups.
A new report conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives.
