Kasa Kai Pune! Your Secret Ubers Are Arriving Now!
Pune – Student city, pensioner’s town, home of the renowned Osho Ashram, arguably India’s second real IT hub, automobile central and everything that’s Maharashtra encapsulated into one buzzing city – just got a safe, reliable, and stylish transportation solution! On a quiet Thursday morning, thousands of Punekars woke up to the news of secret Ubers roaming the streets of the cultural capital of Maharashtra.
It wasn’t long before the word got out. From the bustling streets of Koregaon Park to the corporate parks at Hadapsar, Punekars went all out to grab their first Uber! The music community took the ‘lead’ with Vishal Dadlani, Bollywood music director and Pentagram vocalist, grabbing that coveted Rider Zero spot. He fired up his app to get an Uber to his studio and within minutes a slick beemer showed up. We only got a few seconds with him and the car, before they zoomed off. Close on Vishal’s heels were Indian Ocean, India’s first fusion rock band, who did not miss a chance to grab the gleaming white Audi that was cruising around the neighbourhood.
Be it the tourists at Koregaon Park street, the property investors in Bavdhan, the IT professionals at Hinjewadi or the shopaholics at Camp, Punekars from all walks of life will find a way to incorporate Uber into their daily commutes. When getting around town becomes easy, cities become much more enjoyable to live in. Uber is going to do just that. Wait and watch, Pune!

Today, we are excited to announce that Uber will give $5.5M to support a new robotics faculty chair as well as three fellowships at CMU. This gift is part of a partnership we announced earlier this year. In addition, we’re pumped to be part of a growing innovation ecosystem in Pittsburgh that includes world leading research institutions and companies, as well as an increasing number of start-ups.
A new report conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives.
