Omaha, Your Uber Has Arrived!
In 1854, Omaha paved the way for Western expansion when local speculators founded the city along the Missouri River. The city was dubbed the “Gateway to the Midwest” and revolutionized the world of transportation at the time.
160 years later, we’re excited to continue the revolution with the arrival of a safe, convenient and reliable way to ride around town. Omaha, your uberX has arrived!
Whether you’re in town for business or need a safe ride to Old Market, beginning today, you can request a ride at the tap of an app!

We’re not the only ones excited to make our way to the Cornhusker state. We caught up with hometown hero Doug McDermott to kick off the arrival of uberX as Uber Omaha’s Rider Zero. In a booming city like Omaha, even Doug knows, nothing beats a reliable, comfortable ride at an Uber-awesome price
What is uberX?
In Omaha, uberX includes ridesharing, offering Uber reliability with prices over 30% cheaper than an Omaha taxi. Drivers on uberX have mid-range or hybrid vehicles in a variety of colors and styles, with seating for up to four people. To maintain the Uber standard you expect, all drivers pass Uber’s rigorous screening process. In order to be an uberX driver in Omaha, drivers must pass:
- A stringent background check
- A driving history check
- Ongoing quality controls
As always, your safety and satisfaction remain our highest priority. All Uber rides are backed by the driver’s insurance policy as well as our corporate insurance policy, and you will always have the option to rate every driver and contribute to the quality with your feedback.
