Hello Manchester! Did someone say “Secret Ubers”?
The first industrial city, the birthplace of the computer, and now, home to Uber! We are very excited to announce that the first (sshh!) secret Ubers are now active in Manchester.
Manchester has a rich musical history and has produced many of the UK’s most definitive bands & artists: The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Morrissey – we could go on. Therefore, it was fitting that Manchester’s Rider Zero was awesome local up-and-coming artist, Bipolar Sunshine, fresh off the plane from SXSW in Austin, Texas.
Our man opened his app at home, requested a ride and minutes later was whisked to Northern Quarter to meet some mates. No stress, no hassle and ultra convenient!
UberX: Most easy and convenient way to get around
Whether you’re going to a meeting in Spinningfields, dinner in the Northern Quarter or out for the night at Deansgate Locks, uberX is easy and convenient: no waiting out in the rain for the driver to arrive, no fumbling around for cash, and you can even charge your phone!
It’s also fantastic value for money: Up to 40% cheaper than a black cab (with a lot less sliding around in the back). To make things even better, we’re offering special discounted promotional pricing for the first few weeks – so do take advantage: see prices on the city page. Finally, if you want to share the cost with friends – why don’t you fare split?

Enjoy the ride!
A typical ride: you request, have small talk with your driver, and safely get where you need to go. For Jonathan, a driver-partner in California, his rides are anything but ordinary — he wants his passengers to have fun and turned each trip into a dance party — and now the latest viral video. We caught up with the man in front of the cam to learn more about what inspired him to create this feel-good video.
A new report conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives.
New technologies are creating opportunities no one could have imagined. To understand Uber’s place in that trend, we commissioned a survey of our driver-partners and put together a comprehensive analysis.
