Secret Ubers Invade The Hoosier State
Memorial Day weekend is always news in Indianapolis. The start of summer. The Indy 500. However, this year is bigger. While everyone’s attention is on the cars on the racetrack at IMS, Uber cars have slipped onto Indianapolis surface streets as well.
Pat McAfee, everyone’s favorite Punter, grabbed the Indianapolis Rider Zero title on Thursday (he’s still #1 on the field…and in our hearts). Pat fired up the Uber app to request a ride to the airport, and within minutes, Kelly arrived in her Lincoln Town Car to take him away in style.
Anthony Castonzo saw Pat had changed from #1 to Rider Zero, and because of his love of “ones” (Colt’s 1st Round Pick in 2011), Anthony launched the Uber app and quickly requested a ride to become Rider One!
But, it’s not JUST Anthony Castonzo and Pat McAfee that can ride in style. Uber is everyone’s private driver, and secret Ubers have rolled into town. In this secret ‘pace car’ lap, we will have limited availability, but Ubers are now on the road and ready to take you to victory (or to your favorite restaurant), if you’re lucky enough to catch one.
We’re adding new cars every day, and we encourage you to try us out using the iPhone or Android app, or Uber.com! Should you manage to get your hands on one of our fine Ubers in Indy, send us your feedback and #UberLOVE on Twitter at @Uber_Indy.

Today, we are excited to announce that Uber will give $5.5M to support a new robotics faculty chair as well as three fellowships at CMU. This gift is part of a partnership we announced earlier this year. In addition, we’re pumped to be part of a growing innovation ecosystem in Pittsburgh that includes world leading research institutions and companies, as well as an increasing number of start-ups.
A new report conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives.
