DC, We’re Bringing a Little More Choice to Transportation
You asked for it, we’ve listened. In the spirit of freedom, we’re bringing a little more choice to transportation with SUV requests. Here’s how it will all work:
BLACK
Our default option will get you a classy black car. It’s the same great service, prices, and experience as before. Although you may end up getting a larger vehicle, we can only guarantee cars in this category will seat 4 people. Note: if you choose Black and an SUV picks you up, pricing for the Black option will apply.
SUV
What so many of you have been waiting for: SUVs. With seating for up to 6 people, now you can roll deep without fear of someone having to Uber alone. Whether you’re spending a night out on U Street or in the Atlas District, or taking the whole family to the airport, we’ve got you covered with just the kind of car you need.
To choose what type of vehicle you want, you’ll need to use either our iPhone or Android apps. At the top of the map, select the type of vehicle you want. Set your pickup location, hit request, and boom, you’ll be able to watch an Uber coming towards you on your app. As usual, we’ll send you a text when your driver is on the way, and another when the driver has arrived.
We want to be really transparent about pricing for the new SUV option, so we’ve made it really easy to see the rates right from within the app: all you have to do is select the car types icon in the top right corner.
We’ve wanted this feature as long as you have, and we’re absolutely thrilled to bring it to you this summer.
