Ready to roll, Columbus?
Whether you’re headed to catch the Buckeyes at the Shoe, gallery hopping around Short North, or late to legislative session at the Statehouse, we all have places to go. Today, the first Ubers will hit the road in Columbus, and we can guarantee there’s never been a more convenient, stylish, or seamless way to move around the city.
With just the push of a button, Uber will connect you with the closest available licensed, professional driver in town, ready to pick you up in minutes. You’ll be able to see a picture of your driver, the car he’s driving, and can even track his progress as he drives toward you!
Columbus marks Uber’s first opportunity to serve the Buckeye State and we couldn’t be more excited to provide you with more transportation options!
The state of Ohio recently demonstrated its nation-leading commitment to fostering innovation in transportation by modernizing its laws to make clear that for-hire sedans can provide transportation to riders who arrange that ride through digital dispatching services like Uber. As NBC4 Columbus recently reported, the City has shared it’s own excitement about having Uber available in town, citing the value of the service for consumers, visitors and tourists, as well as the expansion opportunity for livery businesses. We’re excited to work with the City in the coming months to ensure Columbus stays at the forefront of innovations that serve consumers and small businesses.
It’s no wonder Forbes magazine gave Columbus one of its few “A” ratings as one of its top cities for business in the US in 2013 and several years prior had recognized Columbus as the #1 up-and-coming tech city in America.
So go get your Uber on, Columbusites!
Please note that during this early testing phase there will be limited availability, but we’re working hard to make more cars available each and every day. Go for a ride and let us know what you think on twitter @Uber_CBUS, or via email.
