What does the 4th of July mean to you? For us at Uber it means independence, Big Willy Style. Freedom of choice.
We didn’t want to sound like a broken record, but we couldn’t help it. You wanted to request an SUV to fit all your friends/snowboards/mariachis. You wanted a cheaper ride. We had to say “not at this time, hang in there!”. Tomorrow, July 4th, 2012, we’re singing a different tune. We’re giving you the freedom to choose your vehicle and we have two options in Boston:
Our standard black car service. Choose this option and either a high-end sedan or SUV will be curbside in minutes. We guarantee cars in this option will seat up to 4 people. Note: choosing “Black” and being picked up by an SUV will not charge you our SUV rates.
The big dogs. SUVs will seat up to 6 people – now your 5th wheel doesn’t have to take their own Uber.
To choose what type of vehicle you want, you’ll need to use our iPhone or Android apps. At the top of the map, select the type of vehicle you want. Set your pickup location, hit request and that’s it! As usual, you’ll receive a text letting you know that your driver is on the way, and another when the driver has arrived. At any time, you can also view our rates by selecting the car types icon in the top right corner.
If you happen to be in Boston for the fireworks with an entourage of, say, twelve, we have you covered. Just for the 4th we’re going even bigger than SUVs – from 4pm-11pm on Wednesday we’ll be offering stretch 14-passenger limos at SUV rates! Choose this special type of vehicle by looking for picking ‘stretch’ and looking for this icon in the app:
Did I mention that stretch drivers will be dressed in their best Uncle Sam impressions and the rides will be packing complimentary sparklers and champagne? This is a momentous occasion for us in Boston and we hope you’re as excited as we are to pick your ride.
