Atlanta #UberEverywhere

#UberEverywhere motors on, and today we jump back across the pond from The Big Smoke and head down to the ATL. Welcome to the Capital of the South & the heart of Uber Hospitality!

Since parking in The Big Peach in August 2012, we’ve accompanied some of the city’s coolest customers – from spinning with Jermaine Dupri to rollin’ down the street with Uncle Snoop. We’ve also driven the country’s hoops fans during this year’s Final Four, showered free rides during Free uberX Week, and generally bestowed as much love on our dear city as possible. Thanks for loving us back. :)

For a city known for its Southern charm and lush natural beauty, ATL’s streets are notoriously confusing. Visitors are often astounded to find out that Atlanta is home to a whopping 71 streets with a variant of “Peachtree” in their name. Not to fear! Our uberX driver Steve was happy to take us on a tour of some of the city’s best sights.

From Turner Field and the Home of the Braves to Buckhead’s buzzing business district and all points in between, Atlanta’s rich cultural fabric offers a unique combination of Southern allure, urban sophistication and international flavor. With all this Georgia goodness, it’s easy to miss Atlanta’s many treasures. Not to worry. Below you’ll find a list of our favorite places to visit in an ideal ATL day.

1. Octane Coffee

Start your morning at Octane – Atlanta’s best coffee company – where the beans brew bold. Uber_ATL team members frequently fill their cups at Octane’s flagship Westside outpost, while Octane’s Grant Park shop brings the Eastsiders their daily joe.

2. Piedmont Park

Nestled comfortably between bustling Midtown and trendy Virginia-Highland, Piedmont Park is a lush, 189-acre urban sanctuary offering everything you’d want in a cosmopolitan park. After picnicking, playing tennis or exploring the beautiful Botanical Gardens, you’ll find the park is also the perfect place to split a of bottle wine and watch the sun set. ATL’s “Central Park” also hosts some of the city’s best events, from raucous Music Midtown to the exuberant Atlanta Pride festival.

3. Fritti

Historic Inman Park was Atlanta’s first suburb, but now it boasts some of our best restaurants – the best of which may be the lovable Fritti. This cozy, sophisticated pizzeria rolls out authentic Neopolitan Pizza to happy diners on one of our favorite patios. You can often find our team sampling the Arancini’s wondrous risotto before delighting in the best pie this side of Sicily – the scrumptious Speck e Rucola!

4. The Porter Beer Bar

After dinner, walk up to hip Little 5 Points and duck into the Porter, the perennial titleholder of “Best Bar in Atlanta.” Inside you’ll have your choice of 800 ales, but let us recommend the Eye Patch Ale from our friends at Monday Night Brewery. Rub shoulders with some of the South’s smartest suds aficionados, and complement your beer with the Porter’s infamous salt and vinegar popcorn before heading back out.

5. The Tabernacle

End your evening downtown at The Tabernacle – A-Town’s heavenly concert hall. We recently jammed out to Empire of the Sun at this cathedral-turned-music venue, and some of the world’s best acts have plugged in on its spiritual stage. Best of all, its prime location offers celestial views of our new SkyView ferris wheel during breaks.

We hope you enjoyed our quick tour of the South’s shiniest city. Enjoy the rest of your travels with #UberEverywhere – hope to see you down ATL-way soon!
