#UberSloep: Order a boat on the Amsterdam canals with the push of a button!
Uber has made transportation in Amsterdam easier, safer and more stylish. Ordering a luxurious ride has never been as simple and fun.
And Uber Amsterdam has been charging forward the last few months. If we add up all rides taken in Amsterdam, have made more kilometres in the last 6 months than the total distance to the moon!
Last week’s scoop
We showed you one of the many other things we can do with the Uber app, when we added ice cream trucks to deliver ice cream to your door. Thousands of people in Amsterdam tried to order and we delivered hundreds of ice creams within one day.
All hands on deck
Now we set sail for the future of transportation in Amsterdam: we give you the option to order a canal boat through the Uber app! We’ll have Uber Sloep on the water 26-28 juli 2013. Depending on the weather and availability, we’ll put the Uber Sloep back online during sunny weekends.
Uber fits the bill
Uber is the first to offer the option to order a Sloep directly from your phone. Uber works with Amsterdam’s best certified and independent skippers to bring you the Uber Sloep. No need to batten down the hatches with the first class skippers on Uber Sloep!
We charge a base fare of €15 and €1.50 per minute aboard the Uber Sloep (that’s €105 for the first hour, €90 for every subsequent hour). Each Uber Sloep has a maximum capacity of 20 sailors and can be ordered exclusively from within the canal area of Amsterdam. You can bring your own drinks and food aboard.
Whether you want to travel to your next meeting like a Venetian business man, or just want to float around the canals with your friends; we know the ropes and have an Uber Sloep waiting for you!
“There is NOTHING – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” – Kenneth Grahame
Today, we are excited to announce that Uber will give $5.5M to support a new robotics faculty chair as well as three fellowships at CMU. This gift is part of a partnership we announced earlier this year. In addition, we’re pumped to be part of a growing innovation ecosystem in Pittsburgh that includes world leading research institutions and companies, as well as an increasing number of start-ups.
A new report conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reveals that when empowered with more transportation options like Uber, people are making better choices that save lives.
