Secret Ubers Are Roaming Melbourne!
Matthew Bate Tackles Melbourne’s First Uber!
It’s a red hot day in our nation’s fashion capital, but it’s sport that’s really in dire need of Uber. AFL is Melbourne’s pastime, food and soul, and former Melbourne Demon Matthew Bate needs to get to training.
Footy players put in 100% on the field, so spending energy worrying about how to get there is something Matthew could do without. When he needed a ride, he simply opened his Uber app and pushed the button. 4 minutes later, Sajid rolled up in his slick black Chrysler 300C. Easy as!
With that, Secret Ubers are now testing in Melbourne! When you’re out on the town, coming home, or anywhere in between, Uber can take you there in convenience and style.
While we’re in “test mode”, you can request an Uber, but be aware that availability will be limited until our official launch. If you’re one of the lucky few that’s able to grab an Uber, make sure you shoot us heaps of feedback on your experience so that we can make our Melbourne launch classier than a Toorak dinner party. Just download the app for Android or iPhone, or go to m.uber.com, and if you can catch a Secret Uber, your driver will be on their way. If you’ve got any issues, suggestions, high fives or feedback, you can chat with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or chuck us a tweet @Uber_Melbourne.

Today, we are excited to announce that Uber will give $5.5M to support a new robotics faculty chair as well as three fellowships at CMU. This gift is part of a partnership we announced earlier this year. In addition, we’re pumped to be part of a growing innovation ecosystem in Pittsburgh that includes world leading research institutions and companies, as well as an increasing number of start-ups.
